Join instructor David Peterson at Makerspace RW for a single, three-hour session which will introduce you to four of the most basic machines at the wood shop: the table saw, the planer, the drum sander, and the router.
When you’re done, you’ll have a cutting board – a single piece of wood that you have cut to size, planed to the right thickness, routed to create finger notches (for easy pick up), and sanded top and bottom. You’ll also be advised how to select and apply a food-safe oil finish. Fee includes all materials.
Students required to provide their own protective gear: real safety glasses, goggles or face-shields and hearing protection (muffs recommended, foam earplugs provided). In the week before your class, you will receive safety and operating instructions to carefully review before the class. During class, these instructions will be covered, and students will have opportunities to ask questions.
Class will be held at Minnesota State College Southeast (MSCS), Makerspace, 308 Pioneer Rd., Red Wing. Enter through Door P.
