Teen Camp - Narrative in Art with Cherish Haskell

  • Red Wing Arts Clay & Creative Center 1920 Old W Main Street Red Wing, MN, 55066 United States (map)

Narrative art is simply art that tells a story. In this week-long camp, we will explore the many ways visual artists tell stories through their work. Learn how artists develop content, generate ideas and determine the best format for presenting the story.

The camp will emphasize bookmaking and artist books as a traditional format for storytelling, although we will touch on other forms such as installation work and sculpture. Students will learn several techniques and make their own books - including folded books such as variations on the accordian, the mechanics of the pop-up book, and several binding techniques.
