On exhibit Nov 8-Dec 20
Second Floor Gallery at La Dolce Vita – The Art Café
Presented in partnership by Red Wing Arts and M.E.T. Projects, Second Floor Gallery at La Dolce Vita – The Art Café, Steven Sorman: Suites celebrates the work of one of Red Wing’s accomplished artists while bringing two arts organizations together to connect the community with contemporary art. M.E.T. Projects, a contemporary gallery in historic downtown Red Wing, works to bring artists from around the world to the community and share the work of Red Wing artists on a national and international stage. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to making meaningful art experiences accessible to the community.
The exhibition features seven print suites created from the 1990s through the 2020s by Steven Sorman, a printmaker and painter who lives and works in Red Wing. Known for his layered handmade papers and innovative combination of printmaking, collage, drawing, and hand painting, Sorman’s work is held in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Walker Art Center, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Spanning three decades, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the evolution of his artistic practice.
