Embroidering Community

A free workshop for participants in The Embroidery Project - Red Wing
Thurs, August 17th, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Red Wing Arts Clay & Creative Center

“Embroidering Community” is a free workshop led by local artist and educator, Peg Hansen.

Tailored to those participating in The Embroidery Project - Red Wing, participants in this workshop will learn and practice multiple, basic embroidery stitches, discuss options for creating a compelling design that is doable, and learn from one another. All skill levels are welcome and extra embroidery floss will be available for swapping.

This free workshop is capped at 20 participants, so RSVP soon to attend by emailing heather@redwingarts.org

Interested in participating in The Embroidery Project - Red Wing? A handful of kits are available. Email heather@redwingarts.org to reserve your kit.

Participants in The Embroidery Project - Red Wing are completing an embroidered panel by September 16, 2023, which includes one sentence derived from audio testimonies recorded by Red Wing residents in response to the prompt, "I know I am home when..."

When completed, these embroidered panels will be incorporated into a community quilt which will be shared with the Red Wing community in early 2024 through an exhibition at Red Wing Arts.

The Embroidery Project - Red Wing is an initiative spearheaded by artist/filmmaker Cecilia Cornejo Sotelo in collaboration with Red Wing Arts.
