Join Anderson Center’s Resident Artist Amy Saikia Wilson for a hands-on workshop! Create a pair of hand-built ceramic bookends inspired by the wonder of miniature worlds. Using simple slab-building techniques, participants will construct functional bookends and transform their interiors into tiny dioramas filled with imagined landscapes, creatures, and stories. Drawing inspiration from puppetry sets and Egyptian soul houses, this two-hour workshop invites adults of all experience levels to build a small world of their own in clay. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks.

Artist Bio: Amy Saikia Wilson, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is a visual artist whose work primarily takes the form of sculpture and installation. Through a feminine lens, her practice is an act of sharing inconclusive narratives that are rooted in studies of Jungian psychology, the monomyth, and Gnosticism.The materials Wilson employs are vast and varied and include ceramics, papier-mâché, fiber arts, digital and photographic imagery, and found and natural materials. Many of her works can exist only through the assemblage and installation of their components, offering a constructed situation that externalizes inner psychological landscapes.
Wilson has exhibited widely and internationally and has served as a Visiting Artist at Montserrat College of Art, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and Northern Essex College. She holds a BFA in Studio Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art. In July 2026, Her most recent solo exhibition, The Adventure of Finding It and Then Losing It, opened at PRÁM Studio in Prague, Czech Republic. She currently teaches hand-building classes at a ceramics studio in Jamaica Plain, Boston.
