About the Artist: David “Swen” Swenson is a ceramic and sound artist from Clearwater, MN. He has been teaching ceramics at various institutions around the Twin Cities area since 2009, and has been working with clay since 2002.

“My work is about nostalgia and play. These pieces are meant to evoke feelings of times past, and to revere the motifs and patterns from historical decorative arts.  They offer a contemporary perspective of those traditions while re-contextualizing their content. These objects are meant to embellish the home and daily practices, as well as to provide their services and entertainment.” Learn more about Swen and view his work here.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
